Question about buying a front guard for a Opel Frontera

Beitrag von Austin » Donnerstag 5. Februar 2004, 18:33

Hallo,
Please excuse me speaking english. I speak and understand very very little German. My name is Austin I live in the U.S. and have a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo which is a Opel Frontera over there in Europe. I have been looking for a front guard for my truck and saw one on the Frontera that I like and was wondering if anybody knew how I maybe able to buy one. The guard I like is just like the one in the picture below.

Danke,

Austin

@ Austin,

i´ll translate to the Guys here at the Forom what you want, but let me ask me one Question.

are you looking for the Front Guard from plastic or are you looking for the other one from Steel?

@ALL

Hallo Leute,

... hi over there,

yes, the guard u mean is available here in germany - it´s made of two components. the core is from gf-plastic and it´s covered with some kind of hard rubber, all over it was painted with car-color. (maybe the colors from isuzu are identical with opel, but i don´t know)
and the Fog lamps are installed right on it, i think u need them, too.

i´m going to check the price for u.
(perhaps it can take few days)

best regards U1001

Danke Grasshopper and U1001,

I didn't know there were 2 different types. I am guessing the bumper in the photo is plastic so, I would like to get the steel guard. Do you know where I can find a photo of one? The only problem with getting the steel guard would be the shipping might be to expensive. So any info on the plastic one would be helpfull also.

Danke,
Austin

how to find it

Beitrag von Grasshopper » Donnerstag 5. Februar 2004, 20:07

@Austin,

go to http://www.ebay.de set a watcher to "frontera" and wait till you find such a item called "kuhfänger" or "rammbügel".

the part from steel is black and you can see it if you click http://mf.dkom.at/ choose FOTOS then 4x4 you will see my Car with the Guard in Steel as it came from Factory.

my Car is Year Feb-98 and it fits only on "Frontera A" Modells which where sold till September 98.

it seems you have "Modell B" but anyway you will find such Parts for Modell B too.

be aware it´s heavy and cost lots more in shipping!

you can buy such a item at ebay very cheap but would buy another one from stainless steel.
you have to wait some time for it, just set a watcher
for it!

Grasshopper,

I purchased my truck in Sept 98.

We have brushguards like yours over here not the exact same but similar. I want a guard that just protects the radiator area and not over the lights.
Did your truck come with that top / roof or did you do do that? I like that a lot.

Austin,

if it looks exactly as on your Foto it is Modell "Frontera B".

as mentioned in my last posting go to www.ebay.de and not ebay.com set a watcher to frontera only and wait a couple of weeks.
you will find such a part from stainless steel.

take a look here and feel free to buy a brandnew one:
http://www.jh-autoparts.de/detail.php?i ... 20B%201999

about my "Suntop", well i bougth that one at ebay for about 150.-€uros :funny:

its hard to find that one, and i use it summertimes only!

@ Austin:

Hi, I work for a local Opeldealer here and I could ask whats the price (my price) for the front guard!?

The original Opel steel front guard is only available for the Opel Frontera A 1992-1998 not for the B Modell !!!

Hi Austin,

someone at Ebay-Germany is selling a front guard like the one you are looking for: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... gory=10404
Perhaps the seller is willing to ship the guard to the U.S. ... just ask him. :)

Regards
Michael

Hi,

Your verhicle corresponds to our Opel Frontera B. Only Grille and headlights are different on your Isuzu, because we don't have sealed beam lights overhere, and the engine is supplied by Opel and not Isuzu. The rest of the vehicle is identical.

So you basically need a brush guard for a Frontera B Sport or a Frontera B wagon. Both are the same and will fit your vehicle.
The steel version (Frontera A), will not fit to your vehicle

If you like, I could look around for a used version overhere if you like and I would be willing to ship to the USA if needed.

I can be contacted via the forum or on LemmensSpecialvehicles *at* hotmail *dot* com

Good question...

Beitrag von Fronteradriver » Donnerstag 23. Juni 2005, 20:19

Guess they're from Isuzu...Because I don't know a gearbox from Opel without the "lifting" to put the vehicle in reverse gear and there's no "big" SUV from Opel here..

However I'm not the Opel expert on this forum. I switched from Volkswagen 4wd to Opel 4wd last November and still learning
